Rise of the Guardians: The Series is an American traditional-animated television series based on the 2012 Amblimation film of the same name. The series aired on NBC from September 19, 2013 to January 23, 2014. The first four episodes were the basis of Rise of the Guardians: The Untold Story of The Last Light and are edited for content.
The show was developed and executive produced by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konitzeko who were the creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. The show's supervising storyboard director and animation director were Johane Matte and Kristof Serrand, respectively.
Critics praised the show for it's animation, writing, vocal performances and being authentic to it's source material while also working as a stand-alone show. However on January 28, 2014, NBC announced that it was cancelled after 18 episodes.
